The extensive expertise of SAG is incorporated into the continuous development of mobile tank systems for liquid hydrogen (sLH₂), which are already being used by truck OEMs in their third generation under real-world conditions on public roads. A key challenge in the development lies in the extremely low storage temperature of -253 °C, which is necessary for the optimal storage of liquid hydrogen. The sLH₂ tank system offers both safety and energy efficiency advantages over conventional gaseous hydrogen tanks: due to its significantly lower operating pressure (<20 bar compared to 350 or 700 bar), it is particularly well-suited for applications with high energy demands, long range requirements, and heavy payloads. In addition to its use in commercial vehicles, SAG’s sLH₂ technology also provides tank system solutions for other mobile applications, such as coaches, city buses, or rail vehicles.
