Vienna, 17 August 2017: Alutech GmbH – a subsidiary of the Salzburger Aluminium Gruppe (SAG) – is experiencing strong demand for innovative air accumulators for air suspension and engine charging systems for the automotive industry. Renowned automobile manufacturers of the upper class, such as BMW, Maserati, Volvo and Mercedes trust in the Austrian quality product. In the first half of 2017, the Salzburg-based company based in Lend produced around 150,000 air reservoirs – an increase of around 10% over the previous year. “Quality and innovation are our top priorities. The increase in orders this year shows that more and more automobile manufacturers are relying on air accumulators for suspension and engine charging. The original luxury good has developed into standard automotive equipment,” says Hannes Rest, Head of Global Communications at SAG.
In 2012, SAG Alutech specialized in the production of air reservoirs for air suspension systems in the luxury car segment, in addition to the production of aluminum tanks for the automotive industry. Rest continues: “We can adapt our air reservoirs individually and flexibly to the requirements and wishes of our customers. This means that our innovative solution is optimally used in every vehicle installation space to ensure outstanding driving comfort.” SAG Alutech GmbH’s air reservoirs are optimised in terms of quality, weight and cost thanks to state-of-the-art manufacturing processes.
Alutech GmbH: Innovation hotbed of SAG
“In Lend (Salzburg), we not only produce air reservoirs for the automotive industry, but also our future-oriented and sustainable LNG cryogenic tanks made of stainless steel and aluminum fuel tanks,” says Rest. In recent years, SAG has invested more than EUR 15 million in research and development at its Lend site. Innovation and environmental awareness are at the forefront. The LNG cryotanks, which are already established in the international truck industry, are an example of the innovative strength of the traditional Salzburg company. SAG succeeded in developing the first European solution for the storage of liquefied natural gas and to mass-produce it. “The LNG tanks insulate cold liquid gas at minus 170°C using a production process developed in-house. Compared to diesel operation, this ensures that the trucks are operated in a way that is low on Co2, conserves resources and protects the environment,” says Hannes Rest, describing the LNG cryotanks.
